Fluid curves, elongated proportions, and a striking monochromatic finish give the piece an unmistakably sculptural presence.

The stylized figure reflects the fascination with simplified human forms and elegant geometry associated with French Art Deco and early modernist design. Rather than relying on elaborate ornamentation, the composition is defined by sweeping lines and negative space—the elongated neck, curved arms, and architectural opening through the torso create a silhouette that changes beautifully depending on the viewing angle.

A frosted glass globe rests within a warm brass-tone fitting held by the figure, providing a soft diffused glow and a beautiful contrast against the glossy black body. Illuminated, the orb appears almost suspended within the sculpture, emphasizing the relationship between light and form.

More than simply a table lamp, this is a true statement piece of vintage French decorative lighting—equally compelling when illuminated or displayed as a sculptural object.

Why We Love It

This piece has extraordinary presence. We love the way the abstract female figure becomes the architecture of the lamp itself, rather than simply serving as decoration around a conventional light fixture.

The combination of glossy black, softly illuminated frosted glass, and subtle brass creates a sophisticated palette, while the exaggerated curves give the lamp an expressive, almost surreal quality. It feels glamorous without being overly ornate and artistic without sacrificing function.

Design Notes

Allow this lamp room to breathe. Its sculptural silhouette is strong enough to stand alone on a console, pedestal, side table, or substantial bedside chest.

Against warm plaster or ivory walls, the black figure becomes especially graphic, while the glowing white globe softens the composition.
